Serving those in need.
More than $137 million in relief supplies shipped.
As the Syrian crisis continues into its eighth year, more than 13.5 million people in Syria are in need of humanitarian assistance.
In just two years, MFA has delivered more than $137 million in medicines, hospital equipment, food, clothing, and other supplies to those in desperate need inside Syria and in bordering refugee camps.
With our established international network of relief suppliers and NGO partners inside Syria, MFA ensures that the right relief is distributed to the right people.

Rebuilding the healthcare infastructure.
MFA supports Syrian hospitals by providing a range of medical equipment, including multiple CT Scans that greatly increase the range of services offered to improve the quality of care, in order to rebuild the healthcare infrastructure in Syria.
In 2017, MFA helped its partners establish a maternity hospital in southern Syria. The new hospital has been furnished with beds, x-ray and ultrasound machines, along with medical supplies to support services at the facility. In just the first 10 days of the hospital's operation, obstetricians delivered 35 newborns. MFA shipments continue to support the hospital and women's reproductive healthcare in the area.
Building bakeries to promote self-sufficiency.
MFA worked with its partner NGOs to support the opening of a new bakery in southern Syria. The development project was an evolution from providing humanitarian aid to promoting self-sufficiency.
The wheat-to-bread market in southern Syria has been disrupted since the beginning of the conflict in 2011. The shortages of flour and bread continue today with gaps in every step of the supply line.
The bakery became operational within five months. During this period, the bakery was constructed from the ground up, the machinery equipment was purchased, and 80 tons of flour were shipped.
The bakery opened in February 2018 and began production of 15,000 pitas a day, serving a population of over 40,000 people. This on-going bread supply will promote food security in the area, and help reduce the need for external shipments of food perishables. In addition, the bakery supports economic recovery by providing much-needed jobs.
Opening new channels to deliver
To respond to the crisis, MFA has facilitated groundbreaking partnerships between Syrian NGOs and the Israeli government to deliver relief supplies into hard-to-reach areas of southern Syria.
Following two years of back channel efforts by MFA, Syrian NGOs began shipping humanitarian aid through Israeli ports. From there, the supplies began reaching Syrian NGOs in southern Syria.
These supplies, including food, clothing, medicines, medical supplies and equipment – and even four ambulances – have been distributed to an area with a population of nearly 1.5 million people.
Changing minds through
Overcoming years of enmity and suspicion, former foes are now working together in the name of humanitarian relief – creating a model for future cooperation in the region.
This unprecedented collaboration of Christians, Jews, Muslims, and others in the United States, Israel and Syria, clearly demonstrates the shared humanitarian values of all faiths.
Out of great need has come a great opportunity.
Help plant the seeds for
The tremendous success of these new groundbreaking partnerships has generated momentum to sustain the flow of shipments and continue delivering life-saving aid. MFA's efforts and the relationships created with a range of relief agencies have also opened opportunities for the delivery of aid to other locations in Syria.
