Director of Development
David Katowitz has served as a consultant to more hundreds of synagogues and not-for-profit organizations in the areas of strategic planning and financial resource development. For 20 years, he worked at the Union for Reform Judaism, consulting with more than 300 synagogues.
He has provided guidance on developing annual campaigns, comprehensive capital/endowment efforts and planned giving initiatives. David has extensive experience working with boards of trustees and planning committees on their strategic planning and campaign efforts.
He has helped raise millions of dollars for synagogues and not-for-profit organizations.. As a member of the board of his own synagogue and other nonprofit organizations, David understands and helps to overcome the challenges that board members – who have the demands of family and jobs – face in their sacred volunteer work.
David received a B.A. in political science from The George Washington University and an M.S. from the Columbia University School of Social Work. Prior to joining the Union for Reform Judaism, he worked for the UJA Federation of New York and the United Jewish Federation of Greater MetroWest.
