The Syrian civil war escalated from peaceful anti-government protests to a violent civil war to a massive global human rights crisis over the past five years. The fighting, the atrocities and the debate over the millions of displaced is an outrage. The crisis has been exacerbated by racism and cuts to aid funding that pit refugees against the world’s poorest and leave out too many of those in need. This needs to end now.
