MFA Kicks Off Women’s Relief Program with Packing Event

MFA Kicks Off Women’s Relief Program with Community-Action Packing Event
This past Sunday, April 7th, 2019 more than 135 volunteers of different faiths and backgrounds gathered together at Brotherhood Synagogue near Gramercy Park to help Multifaith Alliance launch its latest initiative, the Women's Relief Program.
Volunteers from around the metropolitan area came together to pack 1,000 backpacks of women’s health and hygiene supplies for a container that will be sent to northern Syria this spring.
MFA’s Women’s Relief Program stems from the Assad Regime’s deliberate targeting of the medical infrastructure in Syria. This disruption of Syria’s healthcare system has had a disastrous impact on the most vulnerable members of the population — women and young children.
Along with its partner organizations, MFA seeks to address this gap in medical care for women and proposes to specifically target women’s health and wellness through shipments of medicine, medical equipment, hygiene and dignity supplies, along with other needed provisions to underserved areas of northern Syria.
MFA thanks the Brotherhood Synagogue, Rabbi Daniel Alder, and Program Director Roberta Kahn for allowing us to use their space for our packing event– and for being so wonderfully accommodating, flexible and supportive.
Thank you to MFA Spokesperson F. Murray Abraham, who has – and continues – to always give so tireless of his time and energy to support MFA.
Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who volunteered their time on Sunday to support MFA and to stand with the women of Syria.
