U.S. Refugee Admissions in 2020 Could Be Slashed to Zero

 

Politico reports that this Administration may ban all refugees from US resettlement in 2020 is shocking news.

 

As a nation of immigrants and one in which all faiths are reminded by their religious tenets “to welcome the stranger,” this would be a new low for America if it goes into effect.

 

The Multifaith Alliance for Syrian Refugees comprised of over 100 faith-based and civic groups calls on Congress to make it clear that they firmly oppose this and will fight it. The stakes could not be higher: keeping our doors open to refugees like those from Syria who are fleeing from war, persecution and other horrors is a basic principle of democracy. If we do not stand on the side of freedom and human rights, then who are we?
