Call To Action | Urge Your Senators to Protect U.S. Refugee Resettlement Program
Senator James Lankford (R.OK.) and Senator Coons (D.DE.) have drafted the attached bi-partisan letter to Administration officials calling for them to take action against the possibility of a zero refugee resettlement level for 2020. Politico last week revealed that this Administration is giving serious consideration to blocking all refugee resettlement for the coming year.
Below is an excerpt from the Lankford-Coons letter:
At a time when global leadership is needed more than ever to solve the complex refugee problem — both at home and abroad — the United States is well-positioned to continue its long legacy as a protector of human rights. Refugee resettlement combines the compassion of America with an important tool necessary to pursue foreign policy objectives. The United States will continue to benefit from the talent, drive, and ambition of resettled refugees who seek freedom, and the refugee resettlement determination for FY2020 should reflect those goals.
Please call your Senators to encourage them to sign onto the Lankford-Coons letter on refugee resettlement by close of business Monday, July 29.
We cannot abandon the refugee resettlement program. Thank you.
